A Journey of Learning, Insight, and Practical Application
In my early career as a social worker, I worked closely with clients navigating life’s most difficult challenges. Through these experiences, I learned how our thoughts and emotions influence every aspect of our lives, shaping our interactions within broader systems. Alongside my professional work, I also engaged in therapy as a client, which deepened my understanding of the healing process.
Over the years, my commitment to self-awareness and the implementation of techniques to rise through barriers and limitations grew as I embraced meditation, yoga, and embodied movement practices, eventually pursuing a doctorate in Developmental Psychology and Education at the University of Toronto. My groundbreaking research on somatic practices for trauma, mental health, and well-being has been published in leading academic journals. I’ve gone on to pioneer research and applied programs to address gaps in mental health and addiction treatments. As a Project Scientist and Educator at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), I’ve led key projects designed to create more holistic, experiential, and effective care solutions and authored manuals for treatment providers to utilize in their practice. I develop training programs and regularly teach in universities, colleges, hospitals, and the community.
Transforming Trauma, Cultivating Resilience, and Empowering Change
My life's work is centered on helping individuals, teams, and organizations flourish by harnessing their inner strengths. My passion for understanding human behaviour, inclusion, accessibility and the interconnectedness of our experiences drives me to create more inclusive and effective solutions for meaningful change.
Growing up as a child of refugees, I intimately understand the enduring impacts of intergenerational and systemic trauma and how they can permeate our personal lives, relationships, and workplace dynamics. My own personal journey cultivated the foundation for my commitment to supporting others through their own transformative healing and growth. My approach draws from decades of personal, academic, and professional experience, combining therapeutic insights with evidence-based, interdisciplinary practices that support individual, collective, and workplace wellness.
An Integrative Approach to Healing and Leadership
What makes my approach unique is the seamless integration of trauma-informed therapeutic practices with leadership development and educational strategies. My philosophy is rooted in the belief that to unlock true transformation, we must confront our deepest challenges with integrity, authenticity, and compassion.
I’ve had the privilege of training over 1,000 healthcare professionals, social service providers, trauma-exposed professionals, and public service workers in trauma-informed care and conflict, integrative approaches to healing, psychologically safer workspaces, and leadership. As a professor, I’ve mentored thousands of learners, guiding them to consider how their inner experiences impact their behaviors, decisions, and interactions with the world.
Whether you’re looking for personal growth, organizational change, or community well-being, my work is designed to create safer spaces for dialogue, empowerment, and sustainable strategies for thriving.
